Santa Claus does..but seriously, some people are happy to accept how they are, not only fat, but skinny, ugly, or short. Why must being thin be everyone's idea of happiness?

I don't think anyone actually likes being overweight. Are they happy? Sure, some people may be happy that way, but then again, most people aren't. Your remark about people all of a sudden getting happier when they become thin is way off. People become overweight because they are upset about something and they use food as a way to comfort themselves. Just as an alcoholic uses alcohol, and a drug addict uses drugs. Instead of actually dealing with what is bothering them, they turn to something for emotional comfort. Becoming thin doesn't take away the pain. The only way to do that, is by confronting the pain, and learning how to cope with it. Learning how to avoid using food or any other substance as a means of emotional support.
II think is is very unhealthy to be overweight or obese. I don't agree with people who are overweight and say they are healthy. Being overweight has many negative side effects. Just because your blood pressure may be normal, it doesn't mean that your body isn't being affected in some other way.
I don't think that saying it's what's on the inside that counts is crap though. Because that is true. If you are with someone completely based on what they look like on the outside, you are in for a complete shock. Life changes the way you look. Whether it is wrinkles from the sun, or smoking, or whether it is just aging in general, your body changes, and there is nothing to fix that. Sure you can turn to plastic surgery, but there is only so much of that, that your body can take.

no one likes to be overweight but thats part of life for some people, if they get thin they will still find something to complain about that is also a part of life no one is ever really happy with themselves and the way they look to the rest of the world

I think so people have accepted it (as I did for many years), but nobody is happy, so to speak, with their extra weight. I think everyone comes to a point where the decide to lose (as I did) or they try to love what they have.

That being said, if someone says they are happy being fat, leave them be. Some people really can't lose (physically or mentally).

I dont think any sane person WANTS to be fat, i mean theres just nothing good about it. I'm not saying that you should be toothpick thin, but being fat doesnt look good and causes health issues so, no i dont think anyone LIKES being fat, lol! and if they do... um somethings the matter.

People come to accept it. Losing weight is one of the hardest things you can do in life. Most who say things like "I don't care, I like being overwieght" and crap like that are usually tring to convince themselves of that. I have never heard one person who has lost the extra pounds go around and say that they were happier when they were fat.

I think there are people happy fat! Some people actually like their curves, the cover of Vogue this month is Jennifer Hudson, a very confident black woman and to me shes fat, but that confidence shows she is happy with yourself.
And there are those fat fat, lazy ones! They have issues!

I think people are generally most happy at a healthy weight. I've been slightly overweight and slightly underweight and I wasn't happy either way. At a healthy weight, I feel most confident and content within myself.

HTH : )
