I'm in middle school, but next year I'll be in high school, I've taken spanish for like 3 years now, well cause we have to. I don't really like it & don't get it. I still pass the class cause its easy, mostley knowing the words in the chapter. But can't reallyy speak it. I really like freanch, and my family knows some and they could help me, I also want to go to france when i'm older. My mom said if I learn to speak french inwe could go, after i learn it . So should I take what I know the basics in & can use around here. Or take what sounds fun.

Take French. If you study a subject you're interested in, you will likely work harder and get more out of the class. Plus, your mom is willing to take you to France after you learn? Sounds like a really easy choice to me!

Can't you just take both? In the US, Spanish is I believe becoming more and more in use due to the increasing number of immigrants from Spanish-speaking countries so that it would be the more practical choice. However, if you are also in love with the French language, then it is also a good choice because you would enjoy learning it moreso that you plan to visit France.

If you can just take one, then I would recommend taking the one that you would definitely enjoy learning so that you would have fun in the process and it would make it easier for you.

if you dont like spanish than dont take it. it depends on which part of the u.s. you are in that would make it useful or not. if you are in the north, french is the best way to go. if you are in the south spanish is handier. go with what you want to do. i have taken french for my freshman year, and so far, i have loved every minute of it, and next year is a french 2 must! follow your dream. if your dream (or hope) is to visit france someday, than do just that. im planning on being a french xchange student before i graduate, so all the more reason to take more french. if you can only use spanish around where you are, thats fine, but it sounds like you dont like it. besides you already know the basics of a language, and the basics of any language will help you with another.

I didn't take no foreign language when I was in middle school. I took French and Latin in high school, and Spanish in College. To me French is the easiest. Since you have already taken Spanish for 3 years you should be good in it. Take both if I were you.

I definitely think Spanish is useful, but you are still young. I definitely think you should explore another language. Either way when you get to college you probably will still have to take a couple of semesters of a foreign language. I have never seen Spanish required for anything other than a degree in spanish, but I have seen French required for Art History and other research fields.

He's right. It mostly depends on where you live. It sounds like you'll enjoy the use of your French more, so that would make the language easier to learn. Also, reading and writing Spanish and French are so similar, so you'd learn the basics of French really quickly. (And French is so much funner, even if it isn't as practical!)

i would say take spanish cua going into french in highschool will be extremely hard, like im taking french (grade 9) and its hard and ive been taking french since grade 4... also it depends on where u live, like i live in ontario canada, so i need french (for the most part).. so i say if u live in the USA u should probably take spanish cuz u would use it more and would be more use to u (eg. if ur applying for a job and can speak spanish then that would b a plus). also if uve takin spanish already, it would b easier.

I am going to high school next year too! :) Well I talked to me Spanish teacher about that. She said Spanish is a much easier language to take. They is only two types. For French there is three or four. Plus Spanish is more fun to learn and it is common and more useful. That is what I am going to take. My older sister is a sophomore and she is taking Spanish and she said it is much better. I have been taking Spanish for three years too and it is easy so far.
You should choose Spanish. :)
But since you are planning to go to France and you don't enjoy Spanish, YOU SHOULD TAKE FRENCH.
I hope my opinion helps you out, good luck.

OH, and when you are in middle school and you take Spanish for three years like I did, they only teach you about 10% of what you need to learn. It is only there to get you ready and prepared to take Spanish in high school, if you choose to take Spanish in high school.

You should take Spanish because Spanish will become the second lauguage of the United States in the future. Also, it will help you get a job especially in big cities if you know the language of Spanish.
