Galileo is not arrsted for his theory of Earth Revolving round the Sun.
He was arrested because of his statement '' Miracles are Happening Due to '' Sun spots '' converting some Energy reaction and not as Beleived of Now'' at those times.
Since Galileo earned some respect from all walks of people for his open researches, might have lead to misunderstanding for Governing or Church Authorities.

>>Galileo demonstrated that the earth revolved around the sun and, as a result, was imprisoned by the Church.<<

If that was why, why didn't the same thing happen to Copernicus? Why was the Church supportive of his work?

He wasn't only imprisoned, he was excommunicated from the church. Anyone who is excommunicated goes to hell, of course. So we can assume that old Galileo went to hell. Here's what I'm wondering though: A few years ago, one of the modern Popes rescinded Galileo's excommunication. After all, we all know now that he was right, that the Earth goes around the Sun. What happened to Galileo when the Pope rescinded his excommunication? Did he suddenly pop up out of hell like a piece of toast out of a toaster and suddenly blast into heaven? Was he still all singed and smouldering or did the angels put him out before he went to see God? Do you suppose God was surprised to see Galileo in heaven after he'd been burning in hell for a couple of hundred years?

It is not. It is, however, proof that until quite recently the Catholic Church was more interested in dogma than in science. Nowadays, the Church at least recognizes the validity of the theory of evolution (now a proven fact). If the Church would get its act together on the subject of human sexuality, it might be worthy of some respect. Also, the Catholic Church is only part of the Christian community.

The bible clearly states that the earth is the center of creation and the sun is just a light that god embedded in the firmament. The Catholics used to believe in the bible and they made Galileo recant his heresy. Of course, nowadays, only the fundamentalists still believe in the bible and the Catholics have gone over to the side of the Atheists and said that Galileo's heresy is correct.

Actually, to get saved, all you have to do is accept Jesus as your Savior which you said, accept that you are a sinner, ask that you're sins are forgiven. And that's it! Also, its not that you CAN'T sin...its just that God doesn't WANT you to sin. If you do sin, you should ask God to forgive you immediately! Also, you don't have to go to church or be baptized to be FULLY saved. You should go to church to grow closer to God and you should get baptized because basically you are making a public profession of your faith. BUT... even if you don't do those things, that doesn't mean you are any less saved! Read your Bible! You will grow closer to God and you will know what you can and cannot do. I hope I helped! Ask if you have any more questions.... Sorry this is so long. God bless!

It was way back then. Today is a different story. Einstien wasn't proesectued for his theory of relativty which concluded that the whole universe is made up of mass and energy.

Christianity is a religion. Churches are instituions following and preaching it. They have their own editions reagarding to the preachings.

I'm not going to pretend to be a follower of Christianity, but really, there are corrupt people everywhere. Just because the churches were corrupt way back then doesn't make it proof that Christianity is foolish.

And god wanted man to remain ignorant and forbid eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The first thing Adam and Eve discovered was that they were naked. NAKED. Can you believe that.
Now we know sex is dirty and we should save it for someone we love.
Science is a greater threat to Christianity and to religions of all kinds than anything else. The truth shall set you free, free of god.
