I am heading towards the end of my pregnancy and am of course extremely tired and there for know that I won't have the time or energy to cook after I have the baby. I am wanting to make some meals ( lasagna, pasta sauce, ect..) and freeze them. I'm not due for 6 weeks and need to know if the food will still be good by that time or if that is too long to have them frozen. I could use some help with this one.

You can buy a vaccuum sealer. I have one and I seal everything and then freeze it. You can look on the box and it will tell you how long everything will keep. Some things will keep for up to 3 years. It is also very helpful for saving money because you can buy in bulk and seperate the amount you want into seperate bags and freeze them.

If you take the air out of them and double wrap them they should be good for three to six months

I use masking tape and a black marker to write the date and what is in the bag

There is a report out of health Canada that states that freezing or mic ing plastic can over time cause cancer

So what we do is put every thing in those throw away tin cooking plates and once it is froze we wrap in a plastic freezer bag and with a straw suck out all of the air and then put it in another bag and do the same The out side bag can be used again.

I take the meal out the day before and put on a plate in the fridge or I take it right from the freezer and cook on 325 F* for 60 Min's

I wish you the best with your new one

You will be able to store your home cooked meals in the freezer indefinitely. Just make sure they are labelled and dated clearly. Otherwise, it will be a surprise for dinner every night. Congratulations on the imminent arrival of your little one, too.

Shouldn't be a problem but wait till you're 4 weeks ... just in case.
