Give yourself a clean slate. You just have to start over again from square one and not think about the past.

One thing that is helped me come out of a depression is to take control of one aspect of my life and for me, that was controlling what I eat and how much I exercise. Looking at it like that helped me feel less powerless and also gave me tons of motivation. Exercise will help keep your mood more level too.

I was pretty much in a similar state as you are when I started to do this, and I have lost about an additional 20 lbs. You can do it...good luck.

Erika,

50 pounds is a LOT of weight to lose in 6 months, sweetie. No wonder you gained half of it back.

You HAVE to exercise and eat right. The weight will come off slowly, but steadily.

Eating right is very difficult. It takes time to develop good habits, so don't get frustrated when you buy that bag of Chili Cheese Fritos that I saw at the market today, but chose the apples instead. I digress. Here are the tips I use:

Don't buy junk food to keep at home.
Keep your fridge full of fruits and vegetables...snack on those.
WATER WATER WATER! In the car, before every meal, at the computer on the nightstand.

EXERCISE
Take a walk for at least 30 minutes, 4 days a week. Offer to walk a neighbor's dog or find a friend.
Lift weights! Nothing heavy...buy some light dumbbells and use those. A dense body uses more energy than a fat body.
WATER WATER WATER!

Been there, done that. Force yourself to quit sugar for 21 days. After this, it gets so much easier. DON'T eat WHITE breads. Only MULTI_GRAINS. Stop any sodas and drink GREEN TEA and WATER. Get yourself a recumbent bike at Wal-Mart for $100 and put it in front of the tv. Get wrapped up in your fav.programs and burn burn burn those calories! Worked for me.
