What to Drink
The goal here is to rehydrate your body. Orange juice or tomato juice are highly acidic and they make me feel worse and throw up. Water also upsets my stomach after a night of heavy drinking. I have found that pop works best, especially ginger-ale. You can buy cola syrup over the the counter that is advertised to sooth upset stomaches. Ginger is a natural stomach soother and a lot of women take it for morning sickness. The bubbles in the pop allow more oxygen and water to get into your blood stream faster than just plain water.
What to Eat
The goal is to get rid of your upset stomach and get the bile out. Bread and greasy fried potatoes the next morning help your stomach the best. The bread will absorb the alcohol and bile left in your stomach. The starch in the potatoes will help neutralize the acids in your stomache and the grease in the potatoes will help you then poop it all out. One you take two good poops you will feel as good as you did before you started boozing.

I personally have never been drunk but one time my son came home with a little too much. The next morning after he wouldn't get up, I brought him 3 aspirin and a big glass of orange juice. After about 30 minutes I brought him more juice. He drank more juice thru the morning. He said mom how did you know what to do I feel a whole lot better. Well this is not my first rodeo I told him. I have always heard that alcohol depletes your vitamins and water so you need to replace them

The best way to avoid a hangover is to take a couple of b-12 tabs and eat before you go drink.

The best cure for a hangover?....you're going to think I'm nutz for saying this...but down a shot. Someone told me to do this and I couldn't stomach the idea. After enough coaxing, I did it and felt a LOT better.

Other than that, drink a lot of water, pop some vitamins and go back to sleep...

If you want to keep partying for a few more days, start by drinking a large glass of water after you wake up (you won't want to drink it, but force yourself to) , then fill your glass with 8 oz tomato juice, 2 dashes worsestershire sauce, 2 dashes tabasco sauce, 1 dash lemon juice, 1/4 tsp horseradish, ground celery salt and pepper and most important - Three 1.5 ounce shots of Vodka. I also like to add a stick of celery and a few green olives. Top it off with ice. You should start feeling better as soon as you finish the drink. Now you need to cut it down to a beer every 1/2 to 1 hour until the next party begins. If you feel the hangover coming on again, have another bloody mary. Eventually (in a day or 2) your going to have to sleep it off. Don't go cold turkey, you need to ween youself off of the alcohol for the next 1 or 2 days for the least amount of hangover pain. Go with 4-6 drinks on recovery day 1 , then 2-3 drinks on day 2. You get the idea. Most importantly, remember partying isn't always easy but it is fun and someone has to do it. Everything in life has it's consequences.

WATER, BURNT TOAST, NAPROXIN/ALL-DAY PAINKILLERS

You have two primary hangover symptoms: upset stomach, and headache. Charcoal absorbs impurities, and charcoal tablets used to be commonplace on pharmacy shelves. An easy alternative is burnt toast, because it's dry absorbency, plus the carbon from the burnt parts, both help. For the headache, it's best to prepare ahead by taking naproxin or another 8-12 hour pain reliever. Unfortunately, we're not always that lucky, so work with what you have the next day. LOTS of fluids, especially water. This helps flush your system, diluting your angry digestive system, as well as replenish your depleted blood, which is wreaking havoc on your head.

When you get home from a night of partying, take 1500 mgs. of Ibuprofen or Tylenol with a big glass of water, you might want to eat some crackers, too. In the morning take more Ibuprofen or Tylenol and drink Dr. Pepper and eat something with substance, like bananas, bread, rice, potatoes.

Enough with the "learn not to drink too much" answers already!!! Some of us like to party and overindulge....

B-12 vitamin before bed combined with at least 1 pint of water. Bottled, sparkling, tap whatever you like, just as long as it's plain water. The B-12 vitamin is essential to coherent brain function and is lost most readily when drinking, as well as potassium.

The next morning, start drinking the PURPLE Vitamin water made by Glaceau. I believe it is called "Recovery" It contains, you guessed it B-12 and Potassium. And water, who would've guessed? LOL

I find that if you can avoid doing anything before 10am, that helps too..... now to go follow my own advice and pass out!!

Chemistry 101-- Alcohol is a dryer- Everything from the fuel dryer you put in your car's gas tank to the way-too-many beers you drank last night.

So here's what I recommend...
If you've had enough beers tonight that you know you're gonna be hung over tomorrow, go to the bathroom and throw up- get the alcohol out of your body ASAP

After you've purged your stomach, eat something carb-a-licious. it will absorb the alcohol, slowing down how long it takes for your body to absorb it through your stomach wall... This will allow your body to actually metabolize the alcohol, instead of it going straight to your blood stream and making you drunk.

Tomorrow morning, drink LOTS of water. Remember that first bit about alcohol being a dryer? The symptoms of a hangover are EXACTLY the same as for heat exhaustion.... so treat them the same- rest, maybe an OTC pain reliever, and drink LOTS of water to replace what you've lost.

By way of prevention- don't drink so much or so quickly- Nurse 1 beer all night, instead of the who-can-drink-who-under-the-table contests. It's definitely not attractive to get yourself all sh--faced.

Drink water before you go to bed and during the night (if you can move, lol.) That way you aren't as dehydrated in the morning. It won't keep the hangover away totally, but it will lessen it a good bit, enough so that you might actually want to open your eyes in the morning.....

Eat two slices of plain dry bread and drink 4 glasses of water and take two tylenol. The bread absorbs the acids in your tummy and the water helps to flush your system and the tylenol is for the headache. Next time stop drinking before you get drunk.
