Grapefruit and grapefruit juice can actually make statins MORE effective! So if you're on a high dose, you run the risk of having it work TOO well, and potentially do some damage. If you're on a lower dose, you can probably have the occasional grapefruit and not worry about it.

Because the grapefruit or GF juice blocks the medicine from working. If you want a more detailed explaination call a local pharmacist. They will answer any question about medicine for free. Call a local 24 hr pharmacy and ask to speak with the pharmacist.
I only know that grapefruit blocks the medicine from working because i work parttime in a pharmacy and i asked the pharmacist.
