Hello,

My Aunt left me her Winchester Model 190 22 Rifle when she passed on. This was about 1988 or so.

I kept that rifle polished and in a special case. I hardly ever took it out of the house.

I lived in Ohio at this time and moved to Kentucky, where it was stolen. I had a crackhead steal it and I'm wondering if I can trace it somehow? It was stolen about 1995 and I have been wondering about it.

I think that my Uncle or Aunt signed for it (I know the small town this was done in). I didn't have the serial numbers written down (my mistake, I was young).

I know that it's long gone but I was just wondering about it. It was reported to police and everything.

Is there a way to get the serial numbers and put it on some kind of a hot sheet?

Just courious and thanks for your time.

Mike h.

If you can get the serial numbers, which it sounds like you cant, you can give them to the police and they put it in some kind of fbi data base, and if the guns ever recoverd they match them up and this would be the only way. Most of the time they just sctrach them off anyways. Most likely you rifle is gone, I had a shotgun stolen from me bout 5 years ago i had the serial numbers and everything i still have never seen it and dont expect too sucks but its life!

Unless you have the serial number of the rifle on file somewhere, there is no way to obtain it now. Even with the serial number and a report to the authorities, it is very unlikely, you will ever see it again.

SORRY TO TELL YOU. THE SERIAL NUMBERS ARE VERY IMPORTANT I BELIEVE THAT'S THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET THE IT BACK. WELL I HOPE THE POLICE HAVE IT AND DESTROYED IT. YOU NEVER KNOW WHO WILL GET THEIR GRUBBY HANDS ON THIS RIFLE AND HURT INNOCENT PEOPLE. I BELIEVE PEOPLE SHOULDN'T TAKE WHAT IS NOT THEIRS. WELL IF A CRACKHEAD TOOK IT HE PROBABLY SOLD IT FOR MORE CRACK. I REALLY DON'T THINK YOU WILL EVER GET BACK. SORRY!
