You're NOT supposed to drink. When I was put on 10mgs of Lexapro along with .5mg of Lorazepam (sedative for my anxiety) My doctor told me that if I felt I HAD to drink, it was ok to have MAYBE one glass of wine but she said I couldn't go out and get drunk anymore like I used to. She said it would basically counteract the Lexapro anyway plus, it may make me dizzy/woozy or sick (especially with the Lorazepam I took along with it). Of course, I had to challenge that and I got drunk 3 times while on Lexapro. On New Years, I drank heavily for 8 hours straight and partially blacked out (that happens a lot anyway because I'm an alcoholic). I didn't feel any differently because of the meds I'm on but I went through crushing depression for at least 3 days after the binge (my usual side effect from drinking).

I actually quit drinking altogether on 1/2/07 so I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Years ago, I occasionally drank heavily while on 200mgs of Zoloft. The Zoloft never worked for me anyway and I'm sure the drinking didn't help. I didn't die if that's something you are concerned with.

I'm on 10mg of Lexapro for anxiety. I had a few side effects when I first started it, like feeling sick to my stomach and very lethargic. I've been on it for at least a month now and I don't really have any side effects now.

DO NOT take with alcohol!!! you do need a life. talk to the pharmacy and do computer research. www.lexapro.com thanks
