* I think it applies to the modern day miracle Christians. I sat and watched my dad nearly loose everything he had in the seventies because he quit his job and tried to pray food on the table and called me a demon possessed unbeliever because I tried to warn him he was doing wrong, and I was a Christian at the time, but I did not speak in tongues or believe in modern day miracles, so i was demon possessed. I had to stop seeing him in 1996 and he died in 2003 thining I have a demon. He was dead nearly 2 years before i found out by accident.*

Maybe he should pray and go fishing as he's supposed to. God could just make the fish jump out of the water to him but maybe He wants the man to put in some effort too.

Ha, ha, ha! ;)~
That is right. Prayer works when there are hundreds, if not thousands, of souls on the Other Side who are aware of you and if they wish to help with your requests.
Prophets of old performed miracles because their respective Group Entities, consisting of thousands of discarnates who reside in the Mid Realms and who are of BASIC spirituality only, granted them Gifts from Spirit in order to impress and convert those in the flesh and have everyone think of the prophets as incarnations The Original Creator. That is how we have diverse religions with their own gods and miracles.
I know that that is deceptive but that is the rule of the game. United we stand.
Plus, the feeling of belonging to a congregation, instead of striving to higher expectations, can make many feel fulfilled.
Criss Angel and David Blaine are modern examples of Buddha, Krishna, Jesus Christ and Muhammed, among others.

It means teaching someone a skill (like fishing) is useful, teaching someone about religion going to hinder that persons life by instilling false ideas.

Simply means if you don't work you won't eat. By the sweat of the brow shall man eat bread, says the Bible.

The original quote was by the great missionary to India, (forget his name) but the last sentence is someone's addition and is total foolishness.

I like the original quote much better. I'm not sure I understand the meaning of it in it's revised wording.
