You might want to try several things:
First, Breathe-Right(the brand name) nasal strips. They have menthol in the strip, just like Vicks, and it will really open up your nose without such a strong odor to others(Vicks can be very strong, and isn't easy to wash off).
Second, put a humidifier in your room at night; or boil a pot of hot water and place your head over it with a towel covering your rhead, then inhale the steam--this will moisten and loosen the stuffy mucus in your nose too, making it easier for your body to get rid of it.
Hope you feel better soon!

Yes I know exactly what you are talking about. If you look at any supermarket or drug store, you can ask for the Vicks Vapor Rub Stick. I believe it is called something like that. Like you, I dont like nasal sprays because it seems it makes my nose that much more runny and red and my eyes get all puffy. The Vicks stick is heavenly and you wont regret buying it.
WARNING: The first time you put it around your nose and take a sniff, be careful. I took a big sniff because my nose was really stuffy and its intense. Its basically like if you were to smell 20 year old Scotch. Its just very intense. So be careful!

You are probably talking about "vicks vapor rub". You do NOT put it around the nose though. You put it on your chest and the fumes come upwards to your nose. Usually it is kept on the bottom shelf in the cold alise at local pharmacies. If you still cant find it ask the pharmacist to tell you where the vicks vapor rub is (buy the store brand, same thing less money, if the store you visit has a generic for it).
Vicks still makes it and every store probably carries it.

First of all, do NOT use the nose spray things. It is very toxic to the body and is very habit forming and you can become addicted to it. Vicks would love to see you use their products because you will keep buying it and buying it, but the problem won't go away.
The best fix is to go to your local drug store and buy a product called "Breathe Rights." You put it on the outside of your nose and it opens the nasal passages allowing more oxygen in and helps you to get a good nights sleep.
I use them every night now and they really work, but they are not habit forming because there are no drugs involved. I find I don't need as much sleep when I use them.
Good luck.

Vicks, Afrin, and other OTC products give instant relief but do more harm in the long run than good. They are highly addictive and do not give prolonged relief. A better and more natural choice is saline. The salt will dry up drippy sinuses well without becoming habit forming. A good RX is Nasonex, and your doctor can prescribe topical gels. A little Vicks Salve may be good balm for temporary relief.

Maybe Mentholatum. I like it much more than Vicks.
Also Carmex has various types of salve in a little jar
You might also consider the nasal INHALERS:
I can't use sprays, but if I use the Vicks inhaler and alternate it with the Benzedrex Inhaler, I don't get the rebound congestion, nor do I have to deal with spray in my nose.
Go easy on Benzedrex the first time. If you inhale too much from a fresh inhaler, it will make you gag.
Good Luck!

Vicks vapor rub will work, but it makes my eyes water and very irritated(like slicing onions). There are also Shower soothers by Sudacare, you place them on the shower floor let the stream dissolve it away and presto, no more stuffy nose! Sudacare also makes a product which plugs into the wall nearest where you will be sleeping and has the same effect. Hope this helps!

Vicks Inhaler. It kinda works, and is not addictive like nose sprays. Stay away from those!

Vicks Vapo-rub. It comes in a really icky salve, kind of like vaseline and in a lotion, which is much easier to deal with.
Also Breath Right nasal strips now come with vicks on them to help with nasal colds.

Vick's Inhaler. It comes in a tube similar to chapstick. Probably in the cold medicine section of the pharmacy.
