Ok so 100 people go to a rodeo!
men pay $5
women pay $2
and children pay $0.10
The managers made $100 dollars, how many of each went to the rodeo?
remember your answer has to add up to 100 people and $100!

100 = 5m + 2w + .10c
100 = m + w + c
11 men went ($55)
19 women went ($38)
70 children went ($7.00)

Let m be the number of men who went, w the number of women and c the number of children.
Since 100 people in total went, m + w + c = 100
Also the managers made $100, so 5m + 2w + c/10 = 100
If this is all the information we have, then there's more than one solution. Three unknowns and only two equations. We need a third equation linking them to only have one solution.
Edit: Actually, forget what I wrote, as you're only allowed answers that are non-negative whole numbers. Unless you cut someone in half :-)
