Not exactly a medicine, but what almost always works for me for a head cold is to drink something hot and then go to bed and pile on tons of covers and make myself sweat it out. I think this must create somewhat of an artificial high fever. It makes for one totally miserable night, but I feel lots better the next day. You probably shouldn't try this unless you are basically healthy, though! I don't think it would be good for a person with a bad heart. You might not have a cold, though. The itchy nose sounds more like an allergy. Use Afrin but DON'T use it more often than every 12 hours, or you will get a rebound effect and be worse off than you were to start with!

A popular product that is available in many pharmacies, FlavoRx, can help to make a medince taste better. Flavors range from apple and cherry to root bear and watermelon.

You can find FlavoRx in many drug stores that are inside grocery stores, such as at Albertsons, Tom Thumb, Kroger, etc., and they are also starting to appear in chain pharmacies, like Eckerds. You don't need a prescription for FlavoRx, just ask your pharmacist for it, unless you are trying to flavor an over the counter medicine.

Flavoring a medicine with FlavoRx usually only costs a few dollars, but it can help you save money if your child is able to take a less expensive, but bad tasting medicine instead of a newer medicine that tastes better, but is more expensive. For example, Prednisolone (Prelone), a steroid, is often used to treat children with asthma, croup and poison ivy, but tastes very bad. A newer medication, Orapred, is much better tasting, but is also more expensive because it isn't available as a generic, like Prelone is. So going with generic Prednisolone plus a FlavoRx flavoring will likely be cheaper than choosing Orapred.

The best cold medicine is a one that releaves your symptoms for 6-8 hours. For me I have dayqil.Night quil. they work good if you are planning to stay home all day. Other wise try Sudafed that work ed best for me during the day for running around alot. Get a vaporizer tooo because that would releave chest congestion and the stuffiness. Feel better.

An OLD one. Hot chicken soup. Also...rub your chest down with Vic's Vapor Rub. Cook with onions and garlic. This is excellent for your heart, blood pressure and prevents illness. Running a vaporizer will help also. To prevent colds...keep your hands washed often. Hope you feel better.

when i get a stuffy nose i take something like nasonex or afrin(i think it is the best). And you should definitly drink lots of liquids too to help flush the virus out of your body, although the downside to this is that you will have more mucus, althought it should be more fluid and stuuf your nose up less

Try NeoCitran (in lemon flavour)...if you want, add enough sugar to sweeten it if it's too sour for you.
Or try yellow tea with lemon and honey, that's always works for me! =)

For medicine, I find that Tylenol Cold works the best for me (get the "night" version ones 'cuz they put you easily to sleep, but don't try at daytime 'specially when driving)...

Or Vicks NyQuil / DayQuil cold syrup are good too. =)

Good luck and I hope you get better soon! =)

NyQuil (Walmart brand Nite Time). Clariton D. Comtrex! OH and Mucinex is doing wonders for everyone I know.

These are all awesome! I get sick A LOT. Also a humidifier would do wonders.

sounds like allergies not a cold. Your nose doesn't itch like crazy if you have a cold. Go get some benedryl and see if that helps.
