I have a degree in Forensic Investigation from Mountain State University.
To sum it up quick:
there is the lab rat and the field mouse.
Lab rats do lab work. Field mice do "field" work.
If you want to work in a lab, DEFINITELY excel and focus on the hard sciences (chemistry, biology, physics).
If you want to work as a CSI/detective, focus on the social sciences (psychology, criminal justice, sociology, economics, etc).
When it all comes down to it, there is not necessarily a need for a field-specific degree to work on the CSI/detective side. You can major in whatever you want. They'll teach you what you need to know at the academy.
For the lab side, major in the hard sciences. Master's degree (expertise) in a field is a +.

It doesn't matter what you take in high school. All you need to worry about is a good SAT score and decent grades so you can get in to a college that has what you want. Even if you take biology classes in high school you will have to take these types of classes in college anyway.

Chemistry, AP Chemistry if it's offered, Physics, higher maths- i.e. Trigonometry and/or Calculus. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter, but these will give you a good foundation for college. An ACT/SAT prep class will also reap you benefits on choosing the college/University of your choice. Good Luck.

often, there are not extreme college classification standards for particular college majors. maximum faculties found out that no longer each and every extreme college gives you that very same instructions and that they might not choose for to have eliminate the possibility of somebody getting a particular degree basically simply by fact theit extreme college did no longer furnish the proper instructions. you may touch admissions workplaces of the faculties which you have an activity in to confirm which extreme college instructions are counseled and which will enable you to in pursuing that degree, yet required degree instructions do no longer possibly start up till you get to college.
