Check with an EMT service in your area. They often have training courses and will take you along if you have some experience and help to train you.

It's typically a 125 hour course with classes meeting twice a week for 6 hours for one semester. You can start to register for your NREMT or state exam as soon as you graduate which, inclusive of taking the exam, can take about 2 months.

The best places to find EMT courses include your Regional Occupational Training center and community colleges.

There are flexible part time ways to work as an EMT that will get you more experience than volunteering. See if your city has a contract event staffing EMTS (concerts, races, conventions...etc).

EMT courses are diverse for each state because of the fact the licensing and scope of prepare selection by ability of state. i'm in TN and that's a semester long software right here at community faculties devoid of pre-necessities required. many times, you do no longer earn a level...that is only a certificates software and as quickly as you finished the college testing and scientific (ambulance experience alongside) hours, you will then be released to take the state licensing examination to boot because of the fact the state useful (hand's on demonstration of your skills). as quickly as you bypass the two one in each of those, you would be rewarded with your license from the state and can initiate utilising for EMT jobs. sturdy success!
