The discs I've used are all the same; DVD-R, 16x, 4.7GB, 120 min. and all Memorex. Yet some, when I try to play them say Incorrect Disc on the screen. I can't understand why it would be doing this.

I've had this same problem in the past. Some DVD players will only recognize DVD-R's and some will only recognize DVD+R's. It may also be a brand issue causing the problem. From my experience, Verbatim DVD+Rs cause the least problems for me. Check out this website, http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDnameid=1139&Search=Search&list=2
According to this site Verbatim DVD+Rs are compatible with the most DVD players on the market. Sure enough, I started using these and my problem was solved.

Several problems could be causing it.

Some players don't see the recorded dvd-rs, just production dvds. This is seen mostly in older players.

A small smudge will make the disk unreadable. Wipe off the back.

Labels will make most DVD-Rs unreadable. The reason this is a big deal is that the DVD-R will read the first time you play it after adding the label, but later won't.

Also, check to see if your dvds play on your pc or on other players. May be an authoring problem.
