i 'm a vet tech so please take my advise. it is not safe you should really wait a week or two because 1. she will clean herself 2.she needs to be with her pups and the shampoo can give the pups a allergic reaction when they feed and it can be fatal. 3. she is sore 4. the pups are blind and go on sent alone. also remember do not bath your animal to often, it will remove the natural oils on her skin. enjoy you new pups

I would advise you do not bathe the Mom this soon. The soap residue could cause problems with the puppies, or even cause Scours, which could kill a Puppy quickly with dehydration. Plus, the puppies need the scent their Mommy has right now to tell her from others. Plus, they cannot be separated for that long, and the Mother is weak from Whelping she could get sick.
It is the Bonding thing that is most important. I would wait until the Pups are weaned by the mom. Please do not remove from Mom before they are 8 weeks old. Besides, she just gave Birth, she is allowed to stink a wee bit.

NO WAY- let her be she does not need a bath now- her babes need that smell to find her and any chemicals even hypo-allegric shampoos etc will leave a residue on her and her nipples and may cause the pups to become sick- wait until the pups have the eyes open and give her a light bath with baby shampoo and rinse well!!!

It is best not to bathe them for at least 4 weeks. Mainly because if she is not fully dry the pups could get wet and chill (which will kill them), and because it raises the risk of uterine infection. I would just get a washcloth with warm water and wipe her down. You could also use unscented babywipes.

Yes go ahead and give her a bath. She probably will be glad you did. Just make sure you rince her off very well and don't use a perfumed shampoo or cream rince either on her the pups won't like it and may not want to nurse if they taste or smell perfumed soap. Like I said rince her off very well and she should be fine.
Dont listen to the 4 weeks advice thats just nasty!!!!

Yeah it shold be fine. My dog actually just had a litter about a week ago and we gave her a bath about three days after she had her pups and she's fine.
