Yahoo! will never send out promotions or advertisements to their users by email, especially when it involves money. Yahoo! will never contact a user for personal information. Do not reply to the email. The best thing to do is report as spam. If the email originated from a yahoo account, Yahoo will take appropriate actions if needed.

You didn't receive an 'offering' you received a spam email. Anyone can get and use a free yahoo email address. And if you think the email really came from Yahoo, look around and see if you find ANYWHERE where state they are giving away 500 dollars and describe the contest and the rules.
