will this delay my processing time? when do schools usually send award letters?

I have had my kids FAFSA flagged for the past two years. Usually just providing a copy of your tax return should do the trick. Keep on them, call them and fax the records over if you have to. KEEP CALLING. If you don't push it the papers could end up in a file folder for weeks.

Financial Aid offices are very backlogged and understaffed. Be firm but also be as pleasant and patient as you can be.

they'll let you know whatever they need, and yes, it will delay processing time a little, just be sure and get everything in asap.

Ask the financial aid department at your school what they need to verify you.
