Congressman Steve King Evokes
Thomas Jefferson
Mr. Speaker, I take us back to how do we identify this enemy that we are fighting? So I looked back through some of the history ... 1784, American merchant marines were being attacked in the Mediterranean by Barbary pirates. In 1786, two diplomats, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, went over there to meet with them, and their idea was, we will be able to talk them into peace. Well, they talked to them all right, and the representative of the Barbary pirates, Mr. Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, responded to them, and this is in the Congressional Record from Thomas Jefferson’s report. He asked him, why do you fight us, why do you attack us, why do you kill us? We have done nothing hostile towards you. His answer was, It is founded on the laws of our Prophet. It was written in the Koran. All nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found and to make slaves of all they could not take as prisoners, and that every Muslim who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise. I take you back to today. We call our Marines leathernecks. The reason for that is they wore a heavy leather collar to diminish the odds that they would be beheaded by this enemy who has, to this day, at least fairly recently, is still beheading Marines. That is how this started. Now, we are in a war ...

I believe that knowing our past will help us not to repeat it in the future. Saying this, I believe that Thomas Jefferson said it best "billions for defence but not one penny for tribute" ; with that he sent the U.S marines to the coast of Africa to show that we weren't like Europe and was not going to pay tribute to these terrorist of the day. It took guts and perseverance and time. Today, in the day of the instant gratification there are some in or country that believe that if it isn't finished in a certain time frame that we have failed. That is farthest thing from the truth. These people, for what ever motive they have; political, personal, or emotional; they are wrong. History has showed, that if we show ANY weakness that they will pick up on it and use it to their advantage. Our brave men and women now in the middle east and south asia need to know that we are here not just support the troops, but the mission even if you don't support the administation.

at the beginning, you're able to understand what's infidelity?? Infidelity is the different of religion, as a result infidelity isn't believing or having faith in God and all of His prophets... Many Muslims kill because of the fact they take some texts from the Sunna ( the hadith, that's records of Mohammed's sayings, strikes and reactions and nicely as his companions ) and from the Quran that ordered Mohammed and Muslims to kill infidels.. yet see all of those texts had an social gathering and a particular reason, see killing harmless lives, any innocents lives is easily prohibited, as a result those extremists are condemned in Islam. they suspect so because of the fact they think of that they are being martyrs in the call of God, and God promised martyrs heaven and super rewards in the after existence... that is why they are doing such acts, despite the fact that they are incorrect. Sunni and Shiites...Shiites have self assurance that once Mohammed's loss of life, some one from his blood line could've been his successor ( like his cousin Ali ) yet in the past Mohammed died he informed Abu Bakr ( his appropriate buddy ) to be the Imam interior of here prayer time, for this reason, Muslims took that as a demonstration from Mohammed that Abu Bakr could be his successor, yet a set of human beings did no longer agree upon that as a result Shiites existed, no longer preserving that the Caliphs who're no longer proper to Mohammed as actual Caliphs and that they discard regardless of Hadith they bypass on... and a few communities of Shiite hate most of the companions which the prophet prohibited that..besides, Sunnis are people who nicely-known Abu Bakr, and have been only precisely how Shiites have been.. of direction in recent times there are greater variations which you're able to seek for.. they are killing one yet another because of the fact a number of them grew to develop into incredibly bias to their sects and each and each firmly have self assurance that they are top.. the known public is Sunni.. be satisfied to e mail me..

I am turned on by the peaceful nature of Islam. The Quran does not preach hate like most think. What about the scripture relating to "an eye for an eye." If I follow that...I can justify killing someone that killed one of my family members. I am not trying to convert anyone or denounce the significance of Christianity. The problem with Christianity, Islam and Judaism is that they are all founded by Abraham. Yet, the fighting continues. I believe all three religions are perfect in their own sense. It is the misinterpretation and misapplication of the scripture by us humans that cause the problems. I believe we all worship the same god but our ways of doing it are different. To middle easterners Islam is a way of life. The followers of Islam are willing to die for their beliefs in the name of Allah. How many Christians in the United States are willing to die in the name of Jesus Christ? I would if I had to. All three religions have their ways of imposing terrorism on the rest of the world. The Crusades, Salem witch trials, the conquistadors, and modern day conflict with palestinians, etc. All religions have their fundamentalists that will stop at nothing to spread their message of hate. It is our job to be good people and messengers of the word. The war is to protect oil interests and spread democracy to countries that don't want it.

I evaluate Islam the same as I evaluate Christians, Hindus, Jews, atheists, scientists, and everyone else: By their works you will know them.
In every group there are good and evil people. In some, there are more evil than good.
The most evil are the most bigoted religionists because they would kill over some stupid superstition.

Peoples interpretations are different in every religious book. Killing the innocent in Islam is detestable and forbidden and is punishable by death, even to a non Muslim. People use the quran as revenge for their personal problems. As the KKK used the bible, as the abortion haters used the bible, and as Israelis to oppressing the Palestinians. Interpretation is important for every book in every religion.

Every religion has had their criminals in the past, none of which should represent the main branch.

Weren't Christians also guilty of the Inquisition? Can you tell me who the perpetrators were and who the victims were? There you go.

Muhammad was violent and since he's the lone voice of islam it just makes sense that islam is not a peaceful religion. History proves the barbaric nature of islam. Muslims today are either violent or silent. Either way, they don't seem to mind what is done in the name of allah (who is not God).

May God Bless you.

Please remember that then as now the people doing the threats were criminals. I find it hard to believe that the few Muslims I know really want to kill me just because I am a Christian.
