This is an excellent question. Unfortunately, I think the answer is yes, some of us have. Some reason that since Jesus is the Word of God and the Bible is the Word of God, the Bible equals Jesus. This is like saying that a picture of you is you.
I don't know if Scripture ever calls itself the Word of God (as it calls Jesus so), but it does say that all Scripture is inspired of God and useful for teaching. In my mind, inspired and useful don't mean direct and absolute.
Scripture itself, in an NT epistle, says that "The letter kills, but the spirit gives life." Jesus told the Pharisees, or the crowd, "You search the scriptures thinking that in them you find eternal life, and these testify to me." In other words, the Bible is not an end to itself, but a pointer to God.
However, Scripture isn't to be discounted. Jesus said that it's easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for a single jot of the Law to disappear. Jesus also quoted Scripture often.
Scripture is powerful and points to God, but Scripture is not God.

Why do you talk it a "graven" photograph? Your first mistake is on your assumption that God's thoughts are understood via guy, subsequently they "could be" amplified. Your next mistake is in assuming that God forbids representations of His introduction. in fact, Exodus 26:a million exhibits that God commanded Moses to make the Tabernacle with ten curtains of nice twisted linen and blue and pink and scarlett, and shall make the with the Cherubim. God enables photographs of His introduction as a reminder of what you worship; He enables the curtains to coach what your are worshiping, yet forbids worshiping the curtains. additionally keep in mind the Ark of the Covenant; God commanded Moses to have 2 Cherubim of hammered gold on the tip of the Mercy Seat. back, God exhibits that it's not the photographs it quite is graven, yet worshiping the image particularly of God. as some distance by using fact the Sabbath; if the Sabbath replaced into certainly made for guy and not any incorrect way around, then how do you establish which day is first and it quite is the seventh? The Bible did not say that Monday replaced into the 2d day, or the 5th, or the 1st. If the Sabbath is made for guy, then guy gadgets his week around the Sabbath, and without sparkling indication of while the week starts off, it quite is not incorrect to set the Sabbath, as a Christian, on the day of the week that Jesus rose from the lifeless.

Too many "Christians" worship religion rather than the teaching of Christ. They translate and manipulate the word so it fits there narrowly defined views complete with hatred and prejudice. There is no compassion or tolerance or true love in their dogma. They ignore those parts of the bible that do not fit into their own schemes...it is sad actually. The idol they seek now is power and control. They covet it so much. And this is a sin.

Not really, we recognize the weight of its authority and the power of its message but I know of nobody who uses it as an idol. I have seen in episcipol churches however where they made a statue of Jesus and were bowing to it in worship, that very much offended me as a believer. Here its the 21st century and we're still bowing to statues, what is wrong with us?

I would say yes, by misinterpreting it, and so wresting it out of its real meaning, and causing it to negate the rest of Scriptures. The Almighty YHVH created this world very good. Once man sinned, he could no longer meet the requirements of YHVH. Because of His great love for man, He sent His son the Savior. The Savior's name means YHVH is my Savior!--YAHOSHUA! The only way one can have his sins taken care of is to invite the Savior in to carry them. If a person chooses to remain attached to their sins, they will be consumed in the cleansing fire the Almighty will send to cleanse this world so He can make it new! How could the Almighty be more generous?

For people who claim to have a close, personal relationship with Christ, they do spend an awful lot of time thumping Bibles.
I wonder why?
