Ok, all men are like this. When you are drunk, your manley-man guard is down. You realize that you need help. But when you are sober, you're manley-man guard is up. You think it is un-manly to seek help for a real problem. If you can convince yourself that you seriousley need help, you can go get it. But you won't get it until you convince yourself you need it when you are sober.

AA is the best way to get started.

Once you have the strength and wisdom they provide then maybe you can do it on you're own.

My father was an alcoholic.

He hated AA and I hated the family AA meetings. All they ever did in the family AA meetings was dwell on all the bad things that the person recovering ever did. They never looked for the good.

But, you need the basic steps. Get the help you need!

stay drunk. most of the people i know entered rehab under the influence. if you have the fundage, maybe you should see a shrink. i truly believe that in most alcoholics, theres another problem that goes deeper than the alcohol itself. most of the councilors i have known have not had the capabilities to get to the root of why your that way in the first place.

It's too powerful to go it alone. AA is the way. Good luck.
