Should I go to the doctors and get a blood test to see if I’m pregnant or should I wait a little longer? I’m still breastfeeding my daughter who was born a year ago last February. My period returned in December but hasn’t come back so I’ve missed two cycles already and just took my second home pregnancy test which is negative. After having a baby and breastfeeding does it take awhile for your cycle to get back to normal?

It does take a little longer when you're breastfeeding, however, it's a misconception that breastfeeding inhibits ovulation- since your daughter is a year old, I would most definitely assume you've had at least one (if not more) ovulation within that time.
The negative pregnancy tests are pretty disconcerting since they're usually very accurate.
I would definitely recommend going to the doctor, because if you are not pregnant, you might just need a normal pap to make sure that everything's ok. And of course, having a blood test run can't hurt, just to be doubly sure.
I wouldn't be too concerned, given the negative tests and the fact that cycles get thrown off easily and since you just had your first in December, it might still be off. But it's better to be safe then sorry, so I'd make a doctor's appointment to ease your mind.

I've heard that it can. I'm still breastfeeding my 9 month old and I haven't had a period yet. I continue to get headaches and cramps every four weeks, but I never actually have a period. I'm very frustrated with it, but everyone tells me that it's totally normal. I've taken a pregnancy test every month for the past 3 months and they are all negative.

If it continues then you may want to go to your doctor and either get a blood test done or see if they can put you on a pill that may regulate your hormones. I'm not sure if they'll do that while your still nursing though. Good luck...I totally know how you feel.

It is normal for 75% of breastfeeding women to ovulate especially if you are supplementing. That is why you occasionally have menstrual periods. You are currently not ovulating which is why you are not having cycles. But, it is a good idea to check pregnancy tests. If they are negative, I would be reassured that you are truly not pregnant. The tests are highly accurate. But, you must be careful with contraception because you are occasionally ovulating and therefore could become pregnant.

Attempt to take your being pregnant experiment within the morning. I also only recently learned that i'm pregnant and i possibly like 3 to 5 week pregnant. I also used 2 assessments they usually got here up terrible however I used them before I went to bed. I waited 3 days after which right once I woke up in the morning I took the scan and found out. I've been having close to the identical symptoms as you. Hope the whole lot goes well. Just right success!

there is a very good possibility you could be pregnant. i was took 5 different preg test before i found out i was preg. i went to a doctor and they said i wasn't preg. it just took a while for enough HCG to get into my system. if you keep getting neg test result (from a doctor ) they will finally do a blood test which is more accurate. if that still comes back neg there my be something seriously wrong. go to a doctor and explain your situation.

Since your still breastfeeding your cycles may not exactly be normal. Next time you are at the dr ask them what to expect with your periods.
