The Gideons keep putting them in motel rooms. Naturally when you take the towels you may as well pick up a bible to. No more of a sin than the towels and you have something to read and make atonement for stealing.
The butt hole day of the... Is asking a question instead of answering. How the hell will he get an answer? I'll answer for him. One of the commandments or Jesus does not say keep Saturday holy. It says keep the Sabbath holy dumb @$$ Any day can be the Sabbath. It means the seventh not Saturday.

CORRECTION----- THE BIBLE IS THE MOST OFTEN SHOPLIFTED ITEM.
The reason for that is that people are looking for the truth, and many people will not settle for a "simple" copy. And since the "nicer" copies cost so much, people may tend to go for the "5-finger discount".
Because Bibles are stolen so much, there is a rise in prices to offset lost income from the lost merchandise.
This is the same reason that prices on lots of other items are so high.......

The people, organizations, churches, etc. that pay to put Bibles in hotels, etc. hope that they will be "stolen" because then the Word of God is then put into the hands of people and families, which then can be read. It is a way to spread the Word. If the person who "stole" the Bible accepts Jesus as his personal savior, he may ask forgiveness for this sin of stealing, and....will be forgiven!

I dont really see it as funny. I see irony in your question. But to be honest, if the steal the Bible - maybe it will do the theif some good! And Im not going to press charges over a stolen Bible.

I've never had one stolen, but have misplaced one or two over my lifetime. Hopefully someone found it, kept it and found Salvation.

I imagine you mean ones in hotels - because people CAN steal them I think is the reason and maybe they think if the owner doesnt forgive them at least god might.

People are kleptomaniacs - what are you gonna do? I like books. I've got nearly 1000.

The cheap bibles have soft paper (Charmine) and indelible ink. The same reasons why Sears Catalogs are so popular on farms.

You're referring, surely, to the Gideon Bibles! I have a friend who came to the Lord because someone gave him a stolen Bible in a bar!

My reasoning, if I ever decided to steal a Bible, would be that... the word of God is free- not for sale. But maybe its because nobody likes the Gideons?!?
