Can I play a Blu-Ray movie on my DVD player if I have a 480i Hi-Def TV?

I have Hi-Def 480i 56" TV, but a DVD/VCR combo. If I purchase "Eragon" on March 20 (which I already am) on Blu-Ray, can I play it on my DVD player onto my Hi-Def TV?

Sorry but you need a blu-ray unit to be able to watch blu-ray movies. regular DVD players are not set up to read blu-ray OR hd-dvd discs.

Think about it, can you play dvd's on a cd player? no you can't. Same thing, the CD player isn't set up to read DVD's.
