...then why not come to church and find out for yourself? There are friendly Christian congregations almost everywhere!

Church is not about judging people; it’s about worshipping God and learning to love one another. We all sin, so no one is "better" than anyone else. But by God's amazing love, proven in Jesus' death and resurrection for our sake, anyone can be forgiven, cleansed, and healed.

A church fellowship is also about building strong communities, connecting with neighbors, and making new friends. In addition to regular Saturday or Sunday worship and children's programs, most churches offer extra worship services, Bible-study groups, community service, volunteer opportunities, outreach programs, coffee-and-chat groups, and other activities throughout the week.

Think church isn't for you? Remember, to gain the real treasures--peace, joy, freedom, happiness, fulfillment, and eternal life--we must go where they can be found, and seek them diligently and persistently.

So, my QUESTION is:
Won't you join us in worship this week, and learn the truth for yourself?

Christians aren't perfect, either, but to avoid church for that reason is like a sick person refusing to go to the hospital because the hospital has sick people in it.

Amen. I already have a church, and it IS wonderful. We do all those things. We support the rescue mission, homes for abused women and families, The Restoration House for ex-drug addicts, we have prison ministries, and the people of the congregation are very loving, supportive and caring about others. God is awesome, isn't He? God love you, and bless you. I attend a full gospel Pentecostal church (not oneness). The Holy Ghost is welcome in our church, as are any and all visitors. Unbelievers will never know the joy of having God in their lives. That is sad. Love in Christ and peace be with you.

Actually, that part you said about connecting with people and making friends was about the only thing I did like about church when I went. Of course, now I think that I have such a different mind set that I really wouldn't be on the same page as everyone else, so it would be hard to make friends with them.

I like the way you put this question/statement. It's one of the more pleasant approaches to religion I've seen in a while. However, I will have to say no thank you at the moment. But, I'm sure the offer still stands at a later date should I ever change my mind.

You're operating on the assumption that Atheists have never been inside a church. But, you are seriously mistaken. Most of us grew up just as you did. Becoming an Atheist is not something we just snatched out of the air. It generally happens to people who have done their "homework", and decided that it didn't work for them.

Amen, people that avoid church either do it out of hatred for their fellow man, or not wanting to give God 10%, or just plain laziness. Well I submit the person that refuses to serve God does himself a great disservice in the next life to come!

I went to church every week as a child. I still don't believe any of it. I'd rather go for coffee and pastries and read the paper on Sunday morning, thank you very much.

For sure, I'll go. People who say that they are good without going to Church. It's like the guy who has B. O. he doesn't smell it, but others do. Well when God doesn't wash you clean, you stink to God. You need a bath badly folks, truly.

Been there ... done that ... have the scars to prove it. As no members of my family & many close friends have accepted Christ and more than likely won't I can't imagine heaven as a joyful place for myself while seeing them in hell (read Luke 16).

Also, according to the bible if a child were to grow up in a home where his father was a pastor and sexually abused him and he in turn rejected Jesus he would end up in hell.

Yet, somehow I do and have all the things you talk about and am an atheist. Hmm, how did that happen?

But, have fun tomorrow morning. I will spend it with my children. We will have breakfast, then head to the park.

Hi Smiling Sam!! I cannot go to Church tomorrow because I am sick but I usually always go several times a week. I do not want to make everyone else sick though. Thanks for asking though. Midge
