My parents celebrated their 50th 6 years ago. I come from a large family and we started a special savings account on their 45th to be able to have a really nice party. We had a special Mass, and reception afterwards. The evening before my parents and the original members of their wedding party had a private dinner. The evening of the anniversay, my husband and I hosted a cocktail party for family at my parent's home. With all my brothers and sisters and the logevity of their marriages, it comes close to a total of 300 years of marriage. We had 3 weddings in one 14 month span. That was 28 years ago.

I went to my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. It was so cool because everyone who stood up in their wedding 50 years ago was there. They even posed like they did in the original photograph! My grandparent's even got to dance a little even though they hadn't in years because my grandma had to use a walker.

yes -- threw one for my in-laws and one for my parents... it was amazing. This last year, we threw a 60th for my in-laws, weddings for each of our children, and we quietly celebrated our own 31st. When we got a chance to give blessings to each couple at their weddings, we told them that it was most important that they listen to eachother if they hoped to do this well... for it is easier to do this for a long time if they do it well.

At each wedding, the parents of both bride and groom, and the grandparents who were living were all on their first marriages with the shortest a mere 25 years.

Can't do it that long without a lot of stuff worthy of crying and hugging... the old sickness and health promises start to mean something, don't they...

thanks for your question... it's a sweet one.
