So I play hockey with my brothers team ( I play goalie) and at most they're a year younger then me. I'm trying to talk with them but they all seem too shy to talk with me, but I hate playing with people and not talking with them.

My friend who's one the team told me it's because they're intiidated by me...I don't get it, how can I come across as less intimidating and get them to be less intimidated?

A sporty girl is just intimidating to most guys. Basically you don't act like a girl...your not shy, coy and weak. Your acting like more 'one of the guys'. It's hard for guys to accept that(it's just hard wired into the guys heads).

There is not much you can do to have your team mates get over this. You can be a girl or you can be a team mate to them....but never both.(women in work places have the same problem...they can be a co-worker but never a girl).

In general, you just need to open up more. Act more like a girl(I get the idea your a bit of a tomboy). Smile more and look around more. Don't act all together and act like you always have somewhere to go and something to do. You should be able to attract more guys that way in general. Though they might be a bit lower quality.

You could just stay who you are, and hope some day some guy will like you just as you are now. They are out there.

Beauty, Charm, Spunk, Intelligence, a.k.a. The Perfect Package. Most Guys will feel like you're way outta their League. And it is intimidating. Be happy of who you are. And only except someone, that has your Values and ideas of Loving, Living. And enjoying your Life. Go Thrashers!

They're just scared cause you're this cute older girl and they think they'll say something stupid. Trust me, my brother's friends are just the same. I'll be like "So what did you do this weekend?" and they'll just look down and say something then walk away... just try to joke around with them and talk and talk. Maybe they'll start to talk.
