Okay I was typing up something for my homework and when I was done I realized I wanted to take out a whole sentence from my essay. I highlighted it and pressed backspace like I always do, but it didn't get rid of it! I tried again but instead of hitting backspace I pressed a letter like a,b,c etc. and the sentence remained but at the end of the sentence the letter appeared. please help

You might have accidentally turned insert on -- the insert key is to the right of backspace - it is an easy thing to do.

Insert is a toggle - press for on, press for off. When insert is on, anything typed will go to the left of the cursor. If insert is off, any text typed will overwrite the existing text.

Is this it?
