Yes you should....you are thanking them for their artistic ability and the time that they took in creating the art that you are getting on you. Generally, people tip about 15-20%.

It basically depends on how you feel about your experience and such. There are those that tip alot and there are those that don't tip at all....

My tattoo was a custom tattoo (portrait)... and the wait time to get an appt with my artist is about at least 3-4+ months out. He spent quite a bit of time designing my tattoo and offered
to do an addition to the tattoo at no charge which I'm getting in about a month. I tipped 33% and intend to tip again on my second trip to the studio.

I would honestly base your tip on your experience...hope all goes well...

Ugh! To me, not tipping your tattoo artist is akin to not tipping a waitress or a bartender, only much worse...you tip 10-20% for a great meal and you tip money for drinks for one night...because you're having a good time...but you don't wanna tip the talented person who has given you a piece of art displayed on your body for the rest of your life?! That just doesn't make any sense to me at all!
I have 5 works of ink art on my body...and all but the first one have been done by the same artist. I tip him well for his time and talent ...which, btw, isn't a bad move on your part if you ever plan on going back to same artist again. ;)
For the record, I am aware that different areas have different prices and artists charge different amounts. I can only base my opinion on my experience where I live. And I would never stiff my artist of a tip nor would I ever short-change him...bare minimum for a $75 tattoo would be $15 (20%)...and often it would be more than that, but that's me. The way I see it, my artist deserves every penny of it!

Tipping is related to the job. You can, but you dont have to. Did the artist do a good job? Did they make every effort for your happiness while in their shop? Did they do everything possible to answer your questions and give you information. IF the answer to those is yes then they deserve it for making the effort. There is more to a tattoo than just sitting in a chair. Did they explain aftercare and safety procedures? An artist that ignores you and brushes off your questions so they can get you in and out of the chair as quickly as possible doesnt deserve a tip.

The amount is debatable, ive seen everything from nothing to $100. With a piece its totally upto you how much. We dont expect the money but its a nice thank you for a good job. That or there is always the gift option. I have a lady brings me an orchid plant everytime because she grows them and knows there my favourite. Bring a plate of homemade cookies the next day!! its totally upto you.

depends on how good the tattoo turns out, AND how good they treated you...it's just like a restaurant, if you're pleased, tip...if it was shitty service, don't. but for 75 bucks i'd give em about a $5 unless it's a good shop. but i never really tip, they can't really do anything about it.

absolutly tip. i always tip at least $20. i even tip my piercers. i recently got one that cost like $40 and i tipped him $20. i've had tattoos cost $50 and i tipped $20.
haven't you seen the signs in shops that say "if you want your tattoo to hurt less tip your artist"
the artist doesn't get all of the money that they charge. some shops are 50/50 others are 60/40 and so on. so please, please, please tip your artist

I'd say, if you're happy with the results, then yes, I would. About 7-10 bucks. If you don't have much money, then offer to return, or send him/her business.
