if i am hugging someone and i run my fingers through the back of their hair you can bet it's more than friendly.
or if i hold on tightly. more than.
a friendly hug is hug and release, or pat on the back, nothing more.
i like hugs, have not had one in a while......:(

Usually if the person hugging you pats you on the back during the hug it is friendly.
