We have been togther 2 years and a year ago he gave me a ring, but never asked me to marry him. We have talked about getting married and everything and he says he wants to but wont ask. In october i went a way for a week and he said everything i want to hear, but did not act on it when i came home. I was thinking of moving the ring from my left hand to my right hand. I am not sure what to do. I want to send him a message that if it does not mean that to him it should not to me. I want to tell him that i will put it back when he is serious about getting married. what do you think?

I am 55.
Never married.
Ain't wired for it.
Knew that pretty early on.

Want to answer objectively

But after you switch ring from right hand to left hand....
and HE STILL DOESN'T GET the subtle message that needs to be intuited more than reasoned out..
what are you gonna do?
Start wearing ring on your big toe?

Why don't you give him ring back and say in effect...
"when you make up your mind."

You will either get the outcome you desire.
Or you will let him off the hook.

Did he know what he was doing when he gave you diamond ring?

If he gave it to you; you wear it! Stop worrying about the marriage thing, it will happen when it is mean to (if it is meant to) you cannot force the issue. Men are insecure in this department, leave the ring where you have always worn it, and don't be demanding!

Maybe he sees the diamond ring as a promise ring? If thats the case wear it on your left ring finger, but if it isn't, wear it on your right ring finger

I would not wear it yet. That simple. Keep it in a safe place for now. If things don't work out give it back.

Tell him you have set the date. Then inform him when that date is.
