need 1099 forms for last 4 years to file late returns.my employer will not give them to me. mine where lost in a flood of basement. can someone help me.tried to call irs but cant get a person on line

IRS had to do the same thing for someone they are there.

Employers provide W-2's, not 1099's, to employees. If they won't help you replacing your destroyed W-2s, they are being a real ****head about it. Most payroll departments will provide a copy, sometimes for a small charge, if asked politely. If not, you will have to be patient with the IRS to provide you with the information.

The payer MUST supply them. If they refuse, contact the IRS and file a complaint. You'll get your 1099s in a week or two, I can almost guarantee it.
