Is it okay to use address labels on wedding invitations?

My fiance is insisting that we use address labels on the wedding invitations. My best friend says it is bad etiquette. What should I do?

Proper Etiquette is for the invitation envelopes to be hand-addressed. Your Address(Sender) goes centered on the back of the envelope at the top. The Recipents address goes on the front in the right corner section just under the center of the envelope. This is where you can enlist help from your Maid of honor and your Bridesmaids. Or you can have someone professionally do them. Look for Calligraphers in your area if that is the choice you make.

Etiquette-wise, you shouldn't use labels for wedding invitations. This is a big event that deserves special treatment. You can get the return address printed on the envelopes for an extra fee when you order your invitations, so that's half the work that's already done for you. If you have the money, you can have a calligrapher address them, which looks really nice.

On the other hand, if your writing is really bad and you can't find anyone to help you, no one would decline the invitation because you used labels. I think a better alternative would be to print the addresses directly onto the envelopes, because then you don't have that actual label stuck on there - printing on the envelopes looks less tacky.

It's up to you, but I wouldn't recommend using labels. They're too impersonal and corporate.

My sister in law printed address labels in cursive/script font so it's looks like handwriting for her wedding invites. For me, I would invite a couple of my friends and/or family over for snacks/refreshments and ask them to help me out addressing my wedding invites.

If I received a wedding invitation with a label, I would feel as if I were just part of a mailing list, rather than an individual whom the bride and groom wanted to attend their special day.

How much time could it take to address the invitations? If you can't do it, ask a friend.

It's more personal to hand-write the names and addresses, it shows that you care and actually took the time to invite the special person to share your wedding day. Try to get your bridesmaids/groomsmen or other friends to help you write them if you have a ton or bad writing.
If you're talking about return lables it's bad ettiquette to have your name and your finace's name printed together before the wedding. maybe just have the address printed.

I like address labels because I can read them. If your handwriting sucks, use labels. Either way is fine. I would go with wedding themed labels (that's what I plan to do). Not only does it save time, but your guests will be able to read the print/cursive perfectly. plus special labels are available to make it extra special instead of ordinary. I don't know about you, but I don't feel like i'm on a mailing list when i get a label. its the 21st century, and you know what---I like to use technology to my advantage.
Go ahead and use the labels it won't hurt you.

I knew no one with even decent handwriting, had no in the area I could even pay to do it, so I printed mine. Turned out very nice. I've also gotten invites in the mail this way, I've never once been offended.

What I am doing for mine is... using labels for return address but hand writing the mailing address.

Use clear labels (from Staples) use a complimentary ink color and font from your color printer, and they will be just fine. Save the address info, and make another set when you do your thank you notes

my fiance and i are planning on running ours through the printer only because we both have bad handwriting, we are going to have the return address already printed on the envelope so it looks nicer
