Man. This is the riddle of the sphinx.
Crawls on four at the beginning of life, walks on two in the middle of life, walks with a cane at the end of life.

Man
But let me try something new, what about a folding sofa *** bed. During day time, it is used as a sofa - 4 legs, then at lunch - folded to give space for the dinning table - 2 legs; and at night, when the bed is slept into by a married couple, it will be reduced to three legs because the other one has been broken due to intense pressure.

This was a good riddle -- only if you got it right! Otherwise, the sphinx would destroy you (by either ripping you to shreds or throwing you into a chasm, I can't remember which...).
P.S. Women presumably didn't have to worry about any repercussions since the answer was MAN.

Is it a man? 4 would be crawling out of bed, lunch time your walking, and in the evening his third leg comes in handy.
