It depends upon how well you package it, how much fat is in the meat, and the temperature at which it is kept frozen. The following are for a 0 degree Fahrenheit freezer. If not all the air is removed from the package (as in the grocery packaging) maybe a month. Single layer, tightly wrapped in "freezer paper about 8 months. Double wrapped tightly (plastic wrap and "freezer paper") about 18 months to 2 years. Vacuum packed in heavy duty plastic - up to 3 years. Meat containing high levels of fat, such as sausages should be eaten within 3 months if raw (breakfast sausage etc) and within 6 to 9 months if processed (salami, summer sausage etc).

In a normal home freezer -one which the door is opened every day several times the shelf life is best from 1 to 3 months. (because of the temperature rising and dropping so often)
The product is still safe the problem will be with flavor and possibly texture.
If you have a non-self defrosting freezer that is not opened very often -- where the temperature stays steady at 0 degrees or below you can hold the steak at 1 year or longer.

It depends on how you freeze it.... If you use a "seal-a-meal and pull all the air out of it then the meat will be good for 6 to 8 months... If you put the meat in a resealable freezer bag and manually suck the air out then 2 to 4 months (check for freezer burn after 2 months).... If you just use the store package and freeze it then 1 to 2 months...
