Bone density and the amount of muscle has a lot to do with weight. I think YOU have a weight problem, a fat head.

But ideal weight can't be applied to everyone. I'm 4'11" and 105 pounds, meaning I'm technically 10 pounds overweight. Everyone thinks my weight is in the 90s though. I wear pants around a size 2 (yes, I know vanity sizing is unreliable, but my range is from 0 to 3). Well, actually I can probably shed a inch from my 25 inch waist...but I also have very muscular legs, so that adds more to my weight. Most football players are obese according to BMI, when in fact they're just muscular. But I do agree, that sometimes average weight and ideal weight are mixed up. Some actually think that promoting someone to have a BMI of around 22 is promoting unhealthy body images. In that case, that's going too far. The brutal truth is effective, but it can also cause depression for people who want the news given to them gently.

Can you stop posting this crap!
At first, it seems you make an extremely valid point about average weight not being the same as a healthy weight, that is very true. But you let yourself down, because you clearly don't know what a 'healthy' weight is. And you confuse 'healthy' weight with 'ideal' weight. Ideal weight varies from person to person.
When they say 2/3 of America is overwieght, it actually means that 2/3 of Americans have a BMI of over 25. That stupid rule about add 5 for every inch is a pile of b*llocks, because I know for a fact that at 5ft2, up to 135lb is acceptable. Maybe not ideal, but still acceptable.
This ideal weight of a female not being over 135lb is also BS. What about a woman who stands 6ft tall? Do you know at 135lb, she will be practically underweight? Seriously, you don't know what you are talking about and you should really just b*gger off or get a clue.
People like you get right on my wick! I'd rather sit in a room full of obese people than have to listen to you talk cr*p!
Thank you : )

for a 5'5 woman should weigh 150 pounds but you are right 160 is a bit too much by five (it depends) to ten. 135 for a 5'5 woman like me is underweight. you must have been looking at the medical way which is a bit extreme for a reason. that percentage mentioned is because not a lot of people are born naturally skinny and they have either healthy or too much. real woman are shapely!

You cannot say that if you are 5 ft, then the ideal weight is 100.
There isn't just one body type.
People have different body structures; therefore, for some 160 pounds and 5' 5" is tolerable.
