I want to take advantage of the sales tax credit and i also donated about $100 that i'd like to deduct. Can I wirte that in on the 1040A? Or would i have to use the 1040 which wouldn't be worth all the other paper work!

No you would have to use the 1040 and the Schedule A to claim the State and Local Sales tax deduction and Charitable Contribution deduction

To itemize deductions, you have to use a 1040 form and a schedule A, not a 1040A. But itemizing doesn't do you any good unless you have more deductions that the standard deduction. If you're single, the standard deduction is $5150. If you're married filing a joint return, it's $10,300. So unless you have a lot more than the sales tax deduction and the $100 donation, you can't gain anything by itemizing.

Unless your itemized deductions exceed the standard deduction, it won't be worth taking those. If you're single the standard deduction is $5,150 so you'd need a LOT of sales taxes to make it worthwhile.
