Recycling is a waste of time if we don't buy recycled goods and if we continue to consume so much. We should have woken up to these issues twenty years ago. It's too late now.

Recycling is not a wast of time, it makes valuable resources go further. All the drinking water on our planet has been recycled numerous times, by the planet itself, don't knock recycling. There may be a long way to go in making mankind environmentally friendly, but every little helps, take a look at stalactites and stalagmites, they are built up one tiny drop at a time, don't make the mistake of rejecting recycling on account of your bit being small, all the small bits put together make a very large whole, (and save a few holes having to be dug if it comes to that).

You arrogant missinformed cretin. Whilst it is true that in the global scheme of things it is just a drop in the ocean - the fact remains that huge amounts of materials are recycled each year.

The steel and Aluminium industry rely on scrap metals, we are steadily seeing a huge climb in the price of plastic recyclate this proves that it is a valuable resource, and it is our responsibility to the planet and or children, as well as our bank balances that these things happen, if the councils did not collect recyclate it may not be able to afford that hospital bed which your dying Grandma need's. So your argument is just plain wrong most of our recyclate is reused in the far east and goes into the "cheap" products that we so love in this country

They better not be dropping my recycling in the ocean....But seriously, It is more than a drop in the ocean. Think of every car in the mall parking lot. If each car dropped 30 drops of oil on that parking lot each hour, over a couple of weeks, that would add up to a lot of oil running off the next time it rains. But we have laws that say you must get your cars inspected and they cannot be leaking oil. This cuts way down on pollution in our lakes, streams and oceans. Does it solve the entire problem of oil in the water? No, but it eliminates one piece of the puzzle. We all have to do many little parts in order for it to work. Keep your chin up! Don't be discouraged! KEEP RECYCLING!

1 can = 3 hours of television power or 20 hours for a 100watt light bulb... It may only be a "drop" as you put it but that drop will save enough energy to keep my *** entertained for a minimum of 3 hours... Heck yeah I recycle. I like my tv.

If we changed the way goods are bought and sold, why recycle. Pop in deposit return glass bottles, milk supplied in glass bottles, plastic on foods outlawed and changed to paper. Carrier bag replaced by paper bags or your own string bag.

A ban on this "junk from China". Products only last 10 mins and then chucked.

I recycle and it takes little or no time. Step 1 : Put cans in bin. Step 2: Take bin out to curb on trash day.

What's so hard about that?

dont talk utter rubbish, it is not dumped anywhere!!!!!!!!!

it is recycled and it is worth doing. It is the selfish people like you in the developed world which have the biggest effect on global warming as you dont seem to care about anything but yourslef and will not change your lifestyle or inconvenience yourself as it won't directly affect you in the near future
