Life is a gift from The Lord, and your purpose can be found in Him, through His Word, and the free gift of His Holy Spirit. He has been sent to Live in all those who call upon His name, sending His Holy Spirit to empower them,to believe in,adhere to, rely on, His counsel,His Word is The delivering factor out of all confusion. and fear." For I have not given you a spirit of fear. But of power, and of love, and a strong and well balanced mind." In John 1:1-2, it states;...In the beginning was The Word, and The Word was with God and The word was God. He was with God in The beginning. "Through Him, all things were made; without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was Life, and that Life was The Light of men. Peace be with you.
Jesus said; that which is born of flesh and that which is born of spirit is spirit, For every man that comes into the world it is by spirit.
The tares are those seed sown by the devil, but leave them grow together with the good seed, and when harvest comes then they shall be sorted out and burned in the furnace.
Life is about life, Jesus said; "I am a live" I am the firstborn.
Life is to live in the physical world with an incorruptible physical body, to be able to enjoy the things of the spiritual and physical world at the same time.
Before Jesus, the things of the physical world could only be enjoyed by those in the flesh, and the things of the spiritual world could only be enjoyed by those in the spirit, but no one could do both at the same time.
Imagine having an incorruptible body (spiritual) that could never taste an apple or feel the wind or water, know imagine having a corruptible (physical) body that feels pain, hunger, thirst and death.
Know imagine a body that can do both, this is life.

"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in a temple built by hands. And He is not served by human hands as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.
God did this so that men would seek Him, and perhaps reach out to Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. 'For in Him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are His children.' (Acts 17:24-28)

The question itself leads to the answer. We are here to find who put the question within us. God put this desire to find answers within us. He wants us to have the anwers we seek. He provided us a book with those answers; the Bible.
Do not give a thought to those who discredit your question with their cynicism. Be true to your own question and seek the truth. Truth never changes.
The positive and negative you ask about is simply mans warfare against God's will. We choose sin and seperate ourselves from God. The bible says the consequences of sin is death. Out of his love for us, God made a way for us to be reunited to Him. Jesus, God's son, came and paid the price for our sin, he died for us, so that we could once more be reunited with God, our Father.
The bible tells you how to do this. Keep seeking and do not stop until you are satisfied you know the truth. Truth never changes

"Life is pain. Everyone who tells you otherwise is selling something."
-The Princess Bride
The world has come to be what it is through a long serious of random accidents, chemical and physical reactions, and choices, intentional and unintentional, on the part of humans and animals. As such it is not pre-determined to be any one thing to any one person at any point in their life. Life simply is what it is, and the best you can make of it.

Life is about the enlightenment of what some call God. Look within your self and you will "know" this to.
