My husband's 3rd oldest daughter lived with us for 2 years and he got her a car from his Dad with the condition she pays her Grandpa $200 for it....that was a 1 1/2 ago! She hasn't paid yet and I took out insurance for her and telling her what the amount is each and every month! It took her a year to pay for the insurance and she only paid for 2 months!! Then she stopped for 2 months then started again but was giving me the payment 3 days after the bill was due! Now she is back living with her Mom and still on my insurance and continues to pay late! So I have gotten ahold of my agent and she is getting her own bill sent to her Mom's. Now my husband is upset with me because his daughter won't get our multi-car discount and I told him she doesn't live with us anymore. She actually moved out last June and was barely making payments to us. Was I wrong for doing this because I have a daughter myself that has been paying her insurance from the get go and she's wanting to stop paying.

This situation is weighing on my kids and their behavior. They think that since their stepsister doesn't pay for anything why should they? They think I'm not being fair when in reality I am. I treat all of our kids the same but my stepgirl's think everything should be handed to them and my kids are wanting to think the same! I'm putting my foot down and so far it's working but my hubby is still upset with me because of what I did to his daughter. Now she will have to pay over $100 a month in insurance! I had to when I was her age and pay for a car myself!

It would be great if her Mom paid but she herself doesn't have a license but is driving and without insurance! I have reported it but no one cares, not even her kids :(

i believe they should buy there first car a, this way they treat it better , ans appreciate it more, but owning a car is paying insurance and buying gas, if they cant do that , they don't deserve a car, plus by paying there bills you teach them nothing-except,mom and dad will pay, so why bother trying, did you know if they get in a accident under your insurance and hurt someone, that injured person can not only sue your insurance company but they can sue you, take your home , care, money saved, i know cause i was hit by a 16 year old who was playing with his radio, i suffered an aneurysm and a stroke, lost the ability to use left arm and leg and left eyesight, i can no-longer work, barely see my grandkids or kids, and my mother takes care of me,all over just a stupid mistake, changing a radio station, check with your agent, they all should have there own,or get rid of the cars, good luck

No, you are not wrong. My 17 yo son just got his license. He is currently on our insurance since it is cheaper, but he has also been told that if he does not pay it each month, he will be switched to his own policy and be responsible for it himself. If she cannot accept the responsibility, let her mom pay for it, especially since she is living with her mom now. I think you have been more than patient and willing to work with her.

no you are not wrong. I wouldnt have let it go on for this long. first of all why doesnt her mother pay for her insurance why do you have too? second of all she needed to learn how to budget money and to pay her own bills or else she is never going to make it in lif e on her own. I would have taken her of too.

She cannot legally be on your insurance if she doesn't live in your home. She needs to get on mom's policy or get one of her own.

definately not it teaches her responsibility, and helps to get her ready for real life when the only person you can depend on is yourself. If she's isn't willing to take the responsibility she shouldn't be driving.
