We had a pleasant stay there a few years ago and are planning to return next month. We are bringing friends with us this time and don't want to be disappointed. Would also like comments/recommendations on restaurants in the Romantic Section of PVR. Thanks,

Playa Los Arcos has not changed much - still nice. Plenty of places to eat along the beach and up into town a few blocks

I don't know the Playa Los Arcos in Puerto Vallarta, but these folks select hotels based on quality feedback and inspections, then provide negotiated discounts.
It's worth reading the descriptions and looking at the images to form a view of what you might expect.
I've also provided a link to the National Tourism Office of Mexico, which is quite good.
