Well a beagle is an energetic dog loves good runs and walks in the park unless it's lazy but a cocker is a lap dog they like exercise a little but mostly love a good seat by its owner and or the fire or other heat sources but be careful if you get a dog from the pound it may be mean. Beagles have a lower but still annoying bark but most cockers have a high pitched bark. Whatever the choice good luck.

A more interesting question would be which breed do YOU like best?
If you are thinking of getting a dog, I applaud that you are researching breeds. Beware that sometimes breed descriptions are not entirely accurate so it is good to ask people. When you decide between a couple of breeds, make sure you spend time with the breeder. Meet the mother dog, the owners, etc. Get a sense of the breeders too.
Both cockers and beagles are great dogs, just in different ways.

Well, cockers are not very friendly dogs, on average. Not good with kids, at all. Beagles on the other hand, are totally controlled by their noses. Hunting is what they are born to do. So I think that beagles win between the two, but the best breed is a labrador.

Cocker spaniels have a lot more health problems than a beagle. Cockers get tumors later in life and ear infections all throughout life because of their floppy ears, as well as skin problems. Most also blow up like balloons with age.
Beagles are high energy dogs that usually remain in pretty good health into old age. They are also loyal and sweet, and not often aggressive. I also hate cocker spaniels because they are frequently biters! BOO!

I love Spaniels or all kinds! Beagles are smart and intuitive, but they are stubborn and can be a nightmare to train if not trained correctly!
Cocker Spaniels make great companions, family dogs, agility dogs, and they are all-around great dogs!
Don't get me wrong, Beagles are also wonderful! I just prefer Cockers:)

well i'd have to go with a beagle they make nice pets and are better with kids then cockers. they are both hunting dogs however(spaniel..duh)... they both need the same amount of exercise. but cockers had an over breeding problem back in the 70's i believe and any breed of dog that comes in to demand get more back yard breeders so more health problems an temperament problems arise like dalmatians and labs and yes even my beloved german shepherds. and cockers have plenty problems....but hey i go for the mutts anyway.

Out of the 2 I prefer Cocker Spaniel...a little more people orientated and friendly. The beagle is short and must be helped a lot more.
