My heart goes out to you. It is difficult to be that far away when something happens. If you both knew you loved each other then you will have your sorrow but it may be sweet too.
Take time for your self. Take time to heal. You may want to find something your mother liked to do and you do it. My mom liked to cook. I think of her when I peel potatoes. So when I am lonely for her I peel a lot of potatoes.
This type of sorrow needs someone who understands. A lot of people understand. Tell your friends how your mother was. Tell them what she liked. If you cry your friends will understand. Tell them anyhow. Your mom will be remembered and that is what is important. Tell people she was important to you and they will help you celebrate the love she gave you.

I'm sorry hun. Is it possible to go visit her grave? If so,wonderful.
If not, she's your mother. I'm sure she's still listening. You could probably say good bye now,if you want.

I found about my mom dying, two months after her death. It is painful not to say goodby. Time solves this, though. My family never told me about her death.
