Today the weather finally turned nice--65 degrees--so we packed up and headed to the park. While I was pushing my son on the swings another little girl came up and also wanted to be pushed. I would say she was at least 4.5 to 5 years old. Her parents were nowhere to be seen. I did end up helping her onto a swing and pushed her for about 5 minutes. Was this okay or do you think parents would be upset? I'm not sure about all the playground etiquette.

I guess I should add that there were about 60 people at the park so I'm sure her parents were around somewhere. But really, to not be watching your child with that many people around? I don't let my kid out of my sight--you just never know.

Even if the parents were around the kid's shouldn't ever be too far away. The Parents should be the one's to push their kid's on swing's not stranger's. Even if you are doing so in good gesture. Next time ask her to go get her parents.

You sound like a sweet lady and that was a great thing for you to do. Anyone that ever extended that sort of kindness to my kids was considered an angel, so in my opinion you were within the bounds of good manners and proper etiquette. There are some folks that are so overly paranoid and uber politically correct they feel you should NEVER touch someone else's child - but not me.

What I want to know is where were her parents anyway?? You were great, but seriously who was looking out for that little girl??

Lucky you with 65 degrees and a clear day!!

I think it was probably fine. Obviously you were out in the open swinging two children. If it were to happen again and the parent approached just state immediatly that you hope they don't mind and that she asked. It will let them know that you don't assume every parent thinks it's okay and even if they were a little bothered it should give them a good reason to be polite and consider the fact that They let their child wander off. If you start the conversation it shows you're attentive and they should easily see that you meant no harm.

The 18 3 hundred and sixty 5 days olds do have a real to be on the playground, yet they do no longer have the right to be on the play kit. That stuff is designed for children 12 and lower than. oftentimes there is a demonstration that asserts that, yet perhaps no longer at your small playground. both way, those ladies were rude and could are growing to be off at the same time as they referred to you coming including your children.

I think it was fine for you to help this little girl by pushing her. She was the one asking you to, thus she was fine with it. Her parents are obviously a bit liberal to let her go off and not be around... or at least not be right next to her, so I think they wouldnt mind either. I always had an issue with strangers touching my newborn without asking, but this is completely different and I wouldnt see anything wrong with this.

I've been in that situation before too, I think if the parents are too lazy to help them than they wouldn't mind if someone else did it for them. I wouldn't be offended if someone pushed my children on the swings as long as they were "clean" people. I can't believe a child that age had no parents in sight....what if you had been a kidnapper? geeesh. I commend you for helping her and looking out for her.

I think it would be okay to push her for a few minutes. but i would be concerned that a girl so young would have no adults around. If her parents were within sight I would not have pushed her.
