You have 3 years to renew an expired New Jersey license without having to take any tests. There is no penalty or extra charges, you just renew it and pay the normal fees. If your NJ drivers license has expired for more than 3 years, they you will have to take a written test. Not a drivers test. And again there are no penalties to do so. Know that if it has expired ONE day after 3 years, you will have to take the test. No ifs ands or buts about it. No excuses or anything. 3 years to the day!!! Make sure you have the proper identification with you to renew your license. It is too long to go into here, just go to the DMV website to get a list of acceptable identifications.

Yes, you can renew it, but depending on how long it is expired, there may be a penalty fee, and you may have to take certain tests and pass them again to get the license. This varies from state to state, so check with the NJ DMV.

Of course, but depending on how long ago it expired, you may have to take the test over again.

Not if it expired 15 years ago. If it's been a month or less, yes.
