Well, I resent the fact that Ms.Taurus thinks that southerners are less educated than Northerners. My family is an old Charleston, SC family and most of my relatives went to prep schools and Ivy League colleges, yet are still Christian. To Voodoid, why do you think the South is backwards? I would probably guess that your family has only been in this country for a hundred years at the most and probably came from some backwards Eastern European country, as well. So, don't put down the south so you can make yourself feel superior, when you are most definitely not.
New England was traditionally a place of christian values. However, New England, in general, (not really NH or ME), has become very liberal and the new wave of liberals that have flooded into states like Mass. have managed to wipe out the puritanical values that once thrived in New England states. I think that the Christian evangelists that you mention, avoid Mass because of the liberals and feel that they wouldn't be as welcomed in Mass as they would be in say, Mississippi. Just my thoughts.

Personally, I find New England, especially western Massachusetts, to have a wonderful spiritual feel. The ways of devotion are quite different in the South than in the North; I have lived in both places, and feel more at home with the way services are practiced in the colder climes. But then I'm a Yankee by birth.

I get what you're saying and I thoroughly resent it. you'll find a lot of well-educated well-informed Christian people in the South. The reason we seem more friendly is that we're brought up to be hospitable and courteous from the time we're born and that fits right in with the Christian way of life.
By the way, I'm a college educated Baptist from Arkansas and I'm proud of it.

Yes, the South is a very religious part of the country (The Bible Belt). In fact, in the US, the eastern half of the country tends to be more religious than the western half.

Hmmmm...well if you are talking about the Bible Belt, yep, the South has it all over New England, but if you are talking about Christians being loving and accepting of others, as Christ was, then I gotta give it to New England. Get what I am saying?

Well, the New England area generally was originally the more advanced area in regard to education. And honestly, the less educated are often fairly religious...not saying the religious are not educated, but that the lesser educated tend to be firm believers themselves as apposed to being non believers... So historically there was more religion in the south.

Why do you think they call the South ..The Bible Belt.
Its because there is a church on every corner of the street and they expect you to be there and if your not you better have a damn good reason....

Yes. America is heading for another Civil War but this time it won't be blue vs. gray but blue state vs. red state.
