If you use real mayonnaise it's bad because mayonaise is nothing but pure fat. that's only if you use a lot of mayonnaise. honestly, don't worry about it unless you eat it eight times a day.

Is this in the same vein as when someone asks after making love, "Was it good for you?"

In terms of health, it is certainly not bad for you. One has to be careful about maintaining the salad chilled - mayonnaise can spoil, and that can be harmful.

I pour a home-made oil base French dressing over the cooked potatoes when still warm, add chopped onions and some spices, and let the whole thing chill overnight. At the very last minute before serving, I add a little home made mayo, garnish with hard boiled egg slices

It is VERY good for me

It's good in moderation, but overdo it, and it's terrible for your body because of all the fat in mayonnaise and the starch in potato. Fat-free mayo, because it's fat-free tastes terrible!

Potato salad bought, does not seem healthy in any way. My son eats the whole bowl when I make potato salad.

Sure...if you use fat-free mayo....if you use regular mayo then it is not good for you.
