This is called Slippery Slope fallacy...Taking an argument to an obviously undesirable extreme...
Shouldn't a weathly woman who was 9 months pregnant and has had 12 abortions be stopped?

Define abuse. If abuse is living with a mother, that wanted to have a child but had more habbits than she could personally handle what would the child turn out like. What is called abuse by society does not always breed crazed lunitics, some times it is the strange hardship with which they are dealt that a great mind is able to evolve and make differences.
Is it worse to bring a child up in a society in which they are told to be perfect and then shown that they can never really be perfect. So to compinsate for the imperfection that they have they grow through life starving themselfs, or worse. Abuse is a term that is very limited. Everybody is abused, it's called conditioning, and if a child is not conditioned to society, then they become detatched and are then medicated by the society that could not understand them. What if that was the next Einstien or what about a genuine Messiah. The point is life is always worth a chance, but some body should help a parent instead of simply giving them the way out.
To many mothers and fathers shirk parent hood because we've built a world that thinks they can do it better. Who can understand the deep tearing of a child more than their parents. There are no right answers to children only a set of examples on how those around them got to where they are.
But a drug-addicted prostitute can change very quickly. Mother Hood has a chance to turn things around. You some times need to take the chances. Then help those that made the hard choice with their life.
It takes a Village to raise a single child.

This is a real sticky question, and it has a multitude of answers. Charles Manson, it is said, was the unwanted child of a prostitute, and look how he turned out. So many would say yes, make the hooker abort the child. Others will say that not all unwanted children turn out bad, and that every child should be given a chance--perhaps requiring adoption or foster care for a child in this situation would be the answer.
Others would say that, sad as this situation is, it is still the mother's choice whether to have the baby or not. And this choice cannot taken away from her unless she is mentally incapable of making the choice.
Perhaps one thing that all sides could agree upon is that it would be best if this person were given treatment for drug addiction and training so that she didn't have to prostitute herself for money. Then she should receive training about what it means to be a mother and have children-what that responsibility really means. Then perhaps this woman would not have children or would plan her children so that she and they could have the best possible life.

If the woman is really addicted AND not willing to give up prostitution, she should abort! And it ISN'T just a question of child abuse (though that would be tops on my list!), but of the many physical ailments with which the kids would be born. Aside from drug addiction, there would be brain damage, a whole SLEW of physical problems, including possible handicaps involving getting around later on, behavioral issues, for which the kid would need to be medicated FOR LIFE...and so on).
When I worked at a mental health clinic, a severely alcoholic and drug-addicted schizophrenic woman got pregnant. Instead of having her committed 'til she gave birth and THEN taking the kid away, the state offices just let it go on! Needless to say, the child was born almost brain-dead, and is probably still on life-support now...ALL of which could have been prevented by a) confining the mother in a treatment ctr., OR b) abortion OR C) STERILIZATION (sadly, the most economic, in this case).
It REALLY frosts me when people make these high-minded arguments for keeping drug babies when they KNOW it's NOT going to be THEM taking care of the kids!
Either get the mom help, or an abortion, or take the kid away. Otherwise, sterilize EVERYONE who's at risk for abusing a child. Make them take an intensive course and only THEN allow them to reproduce!!1

The book "Freakonomics" discusses the relationship between crime rates and abortion. These data suggest it is better for society.
In the end it is a matter of values and choice. Whether the choice is legal or illegal is not so relevant.
Statistics also indicate that the abortion rate among Evangelical Christians is about the same as the general population.
One might argue that the abortion is not so good for the aborted.
I believe it is important to decrease the social conditions that make abortion a desirable option and to take a serious look at the statistical rates of abortion and try to make the statistic go down.
All the dogma in the world won't do that. Economic conditions might as well as clearly planned pregnancies based on one's ability to support a child.

IF those were my ONLY two choices,I think it would be better to abort, although I personally do not believe abortion is right. However, the prostitute also has the option of giving birth and giving up the child for adoption. The child may or may not have serious mental or physical defects, but usually cannot be determined until it is born. And if she would choose to keep the child, but abuse it, I would sincerely hope someone would come forward and take the necessary steps to separate the mother from the child.

No it is never ok to abort a child. If by chance the prostitute does have a child she can give him or her up or staighten up and get off drugs, if we want to go there alot of people abuse there kids by giving them what they want all the time. Good ex. a child has a sweet tooth so she always ask for candy or cakes and pies. Now the time the child is older she has to take shoots because she has diabetes. So the question should be how far do we go. See I will spank my son and they call it child abuse but if I don't and I send him to the corner he will be hitting on me in about 5 years. I don't think so.

I know SO many people who are desperate to adopt a baby. More and more infertility is becoming a problem. The computer now allows the birthmother to find and read about prospective adoptive parents. There are many groups that help out, too. There is no reason why a baby has to suffer either by abortion or by abuse.

You say that, under the assumption that there is no other option or CHOICE.
Well, here is a real CHOICE .... Give the child up for adoption.
I mean why punish the child for what the mother did, by taking his or her life away?!?
I thank God everyday for my little brother, His mother is a drug-addicted prostitute.
But at least she had even decency and courage, to let Kristopher live!!
Now he is married and has three girls.
IF she had aborted or KILLED him ----- He and his wife would not have Alysia, Autumn, or Amber!
Just food for thought -------

Who's to say that a prostitue can't clean up her act decide to keep the child. And who is to say that a prostitue is abusive? Prostitues are people too, just because of the path they have chosen in their lives, does not make them any more likely to be abusive. And there are other alternatives to abortion. She could have the baby and put the baby up for adoption...abortion isn't always the answer.

She should give the child up for adoption. If this is not an option, abortion is murder so it would be more moral to abuse a living child. However, it would be more merciful to the child to abort it and let it go to Heaven instead of live with all the low self-esteem the poor child would have and all the abuse.
