Yes in many spiritual traditions they teach you how to obtain such a thing, however a lot of spiritual traditions have a lot of misrepresentations and misunderstanding about what they teach. If you can see through these things and find the similarities and root that exists in all true spiritual traditions you can obtain enlightenment or illumination as it is sometimes called. What I mean by true spiritual tradition I also mean it can be religious or not but it must have the same root or base if you study the different religions and spiritual traditions in the world you will see a similarity in them this is the true practice if you follow that then you will reach your goal. However if you need something a bit more concrete I recommend practicing Yoga as it was intended to be practiced by the Yogi’s and Guru’s of old. In Yoga’s science and philosophy you will find what needs to be done to attain enlightenment but it will not come over-night it will take many years of practice and much discipline. I will tell you the 8 disciplines of Yoga as described by Patanjali an enlightened Yogi of ancient times. They are YAMA-the five abstentions which include: non-violence, truthfulness, non-covetousness, abstinence and non-possessiveness. NIYAMA- the five observances which include: cleanliness of body and mind, satisfaction with what one has, austerity- control and discipline of the body and mind, Study of religious scriptures and surrender to God. ASANA- discipline of the body by performing certain postures to keep the body healthy and disease free. PRANAYAMA- learning to control life force energies through breathing exercises. PRATYAHARA- withdrawal of the senses. DHARANA- concentration on an object or image either physical or mental. DHYANA- Deep one pointed Meditation and finally SAMADHI- oneness with the object of meditation. I only know of two stages of samadhi but there may be more there is savikalpa samadhi which does not last it is only temporary and Nirvikalpa Samadhi which is a permanete state. I could describe these to you but it would only be from what I have read. I hope this helps you on your path to enlightenment.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "true enlightenment." Personal opinion, life is ever evolving enlightenment~insight, knowledge, phases. Wouldn't "true enlightenment" be the ultimate & thus the end? Also, enlightenment of the self is quite diferent than enlightenment from OUTSIDE oneself, & that has no "truth" in it.

depends on which way you mean "true enlightenment." If you mean a complete and total understanding of everything, then I doubt it. If you mean a complete inner peace...maybe. The Buddhists believe in it, maybe you should research them to get some answers.

Yes:
"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you" (John 14:26).
This is obtained only from the Holy Spirit, only thru Jesus Christ.

Better yet, even if there was "true enlightenment," how could you convince the un-enlightened that it exists?
